OVHcloud

OVHcloud (OVH Groupe SA, Roubaix, listed on Euronext Paris, founded 1999 by Octave Klaba, €1.085 billion revenue in 2025, 46 data centres) is the company European governments point to when they say "sovereign cloud". UK customers contract with OVH SAS in France. Its VPS page says data is "protected from extraterritorial laws such as the CLOUD Act"; its compliance pages confirm SecNumCloud qualification (France's highest cloud security visa) for its VMware and SAP HANA private-cloud lines since December 2020, operated only by staff in Europe with data never processed outside the EU, and ISO 27001 since 2012. For the small business, the relevant products are the VPS line and Public Cloud, in London (Erith), Gravelines, Roubaix, Strasbourg, Paris, Milan, Frankfurt (Limburg) and Warsaw among 15 compute locations.

The VPS line is where the value is: VPS-1 is 2 vCores, 4 GB and 40 GB NVMe for £3.31 a month; VPS-2 is 4 vCores, 8 GB and 75 GB for £6.29; both with unlimited traffic capped by port speed (500 Mbps and 1 Gbps), the IPv4 included, a daily automatic backup on a rolling seven days included, anti-DDoS included and a 99.9% SLA. So the real monthly cost of a server that beats the reference spec is £6.29, nothing to add; a premium backup with external storage is £0.96 a month and snapshots from £0.27. The catches: VPS is billed monthly, not hourly, and the Asia-Pacific VPS locations carry traffic quotas. Public Cloud is the hourly line: a b3-8 instance (2 vCores, 8 GB, 50 GB) is £0.0441 an hour, about £32.19 a month pay-as-you-go, though the page shows the 12-month savings-plan price of £27.36 more prominently; the public IPv4 is an add-on rather than included; and from 1 October 2026 local storage and the IPv4 will be billed separately on the b3, c3 and r3 families. Object storage egress is free at every tier, block storage from about £0.03 per GB a month, and there are managed MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Valkey, managed Kubernetes, load balancers, vRack private networking, an API, an official Terraform provider and CLI. No official MCP server exists, only community projects.

The record has two entries every buyer should know. On 10 March 2021 a fire destroyed the SBG2 data centre in Strasbourg and took the whole site offline; the court rulings on OVH's liability clauses that followed could not be verified in this research and are not asserted. And Trustpilot, at 3.9 on 8,466 invited reviews (51% five-star, 36% one-star), is dominated on the low end not by downtime but by billing: card funds held after cancellation, services that could not be cancelled, payment methods that could not be removed, renewals that were not wanted. Support is by phone and email. If price and European ownership are the brief, OVHcloud's VPS is unbeatable; read the billing terms first.
