RingCentral RingEX

The most feature-laden UCaaS on the market — and the one most UK buyers will pay too much for, on US-centric bundles with the worst contract reputation in this comparison.

RingCentral RingEX bundles phone, video, messaging, fax and an AI receptionist into a platform with 300+ integrations, London and German data centres for UK/EU residency, and a mature developer platform (REST API, OAuth, webhooks, Zapier, an alpha MCP for CRM logging). If you need all of that, it is genuinely capable.

Most calling-first UK teams don't, and pay for it anyway: US list is $20–35 per user per month annual, UK GBP figures are hidden behind scripts, the headline "unlimited calling" means US/Canada, international rates are unpublished, and add-ons like the AI Receptionist ($39 a month plus $0.50/min) are USD-denominated. Contracts run 1–3 years, auto-renew, and early exit means paying the full remaining term — which is why RingCentral scores 1.8/5 on Trustpilot from 1,965 reviews, dominated by near-impossible cancellations and mid-contract price rises. Note too that 999 only works from a Digital Line, not virtual extensions. We have run RingCentral in production — over-expensive for bloated feature sets, and very US-centric. That is our direct experience.

Cons

  • Over-expensive for bloated feature sets, and very US-centric (our direct experience)
  • Punishing contracts — 1.8/5 Trustpilot from 1,965 reviews, almost all about cancellation
  • 999 only from Digital Lines, not virtual extensions

*How we calculate minimum commitment. Headline per-user prices hide the real cost of trying a platform. Total cost of ownership is licence × seats × term, plus usage, add-ons, setup fees and any early-exit charges. Our "minimum commitment" figure is the floor of that: the entry plan's committed rate × the minimum seats the vendor will sell × the months you must commit to (one month at the month-to-month rate where there is no commitment; the licence price where it is sold per year). It deliberately excludes usage, add-ons and prerequisite licences, so your real first bill will be higher — but never lower than this. For Teams Phone the excluded prerequisites are the Microsoft 365 and Teams licences.
