Odoo

The open-source business suite whose CRM is free to self-host and, on Odoo Online, £22 a user a month for every app at once: the best value in the category for a company with a developer or a partner, and the wrong choice for one without, with a subscription agreement that allows 7% a year at renewal and 25% a year for running an old version.

Odoo (Odoo S.A., Grand-Rosière, Belgium, privately held, valued at $5.3 billion in a November 2024 secondary sale led by CapitalG and Sequoia, profitable and self-funded since 2014) is not a CRM with add-ons; it is an entire company in one codebase, and CRM is one of the fifty apps. Two facts matter before price. The Community edition is open source and ships the CRM, Sales, Invoicing and basic Email Marketing modules, verified against the public GitHub repository, so a business with a developer can run a capable CRM at zero licence cost on its own server. And on Odoo Online the paid plans are priced per user for every app: Sales, CRM, Accounting, Inventory, HR, Project, Website, eCommerce and the rest for one fee, which is the cheapest way in this comparison to run a whole business rather than a pipeline.

Prices in GBP, ex VAT, from the pricing page on 8 September 2026. One App Free is exactly that: one app, unlimited users, hosted, free. Standard is advertised at £18 a user a month on annual commitment or £23 monthly, and the small print says the discount "is valid for 12 months, for initial users ordered"; the list price it discounts from, and the price after year one and for any user added later, is £22 annual or £28 monthly. Custom (£26.80 / £33.50 for the first year, then £33.60 / £42) adds Odoo Studio for no-code customisation, multi-company, external API access and the choice of Odoo.sh or on-premise hosting. There are no seat minimums and no mandatory onboarding fee; Odoo sells hours-based Success Packs from £442 (four hours, new customer) to £14,747 (200 hours). The Enterprise Subscription Agreement (version 12, December 2025) is explicit: section 5.2 lets charges rise "by up to 7% per year" at renewal where they are below list; section 5.1 adds a fee "equal to 25% of the annualized price" once a year if the database runs a version older than the three covered ones; terms auto-renew unless either side gives 30 days' notice. Hosting offers a choice of at least three regions including Europe; a UK region is not named. There is no first-party MCP server, only community modules.

The Trustpilot profile is the most polarised here: 3.1 on 1,254 reviews, 46% five-star and 43% one-star, with the one-star themes being support responsiveness, auto-renewal and refund rigidity, and the learning curve of configuring it without paid help. G2 is 4.2 on 1,260; Capterra rates functionality 4.2 and customer service 3.9. That split is the product: the people who have a partner or a developer are delighted, and the people who tried to do it alone are not.

In our experience: Odoo is one of the three CRMs we have deployed and supported for clients over the past decade, thousands of seats in total. It is the developer's option, which is why Odoo leans so heavily on its network of system integrators and resellers to build and deliver it. You can, in theory, self-serve; in our experience that is out of reach for most businesses without technical staff, and the ranking reflects the buyer this page is written for, not the software.

Cons

  • The £18 headline is a 12-month discount; the list price is £22, and the agreement allows up to 7% a year on top at renewal plus 25% a year for running an old version
  • Partner-led in practice: self-service is out of reach for most businesses without technical staff (first-party)
  • Trustpilot 3.1 on 1,254 reviews, split 46% five-star and 43% one-star; no first-party MCP server

Commitment for annual rate (months)12

*Real tier: the plan a 10-seat business with a pipeline, email sequences, basic automation and reporting actually needs, because CRM entry tiers are deliberately thin. Prices are per user per month on annual commitment, as shown to a UK visitor on the research date, in the currency the vendor bills UK customers in; see each profile for the VAT basis and for what the entry tier leaves out.

**Renewal terms: what the vendor's published customer terms allow it to do to your price when an annual contract renews. "Fixed" means the terms contain no uplift clause; "capped" means an increase is allowed up to a stated percentage; "uncapped" means the vendor may set a new price on notice. Read with the profile, which quotes the clause.
