Around it sit a text-based editor with a chat-based AI editing agent (October 2025), Magic Audio clean-up, Magic Clips, transcription in 100+ languages, eye-contact correction, AI translation with per-speaker voice clone and lip sync, live streaming and a webinar product, plus mobile apps that record on-device. The problem is the thing it exists to do. Riverside's "Sync Fix" (March 2025) shifts audio in 50 ms steps, and its own help article states it "cannot fix sync issues between separate participant tracks or cases where audio lag worsens over time", which is precisely the progressive drift creators report publicly and that we hit ourselves. Trustpilot is 3.8 on 496 reviews; the one-star themes are recordings that fail to upload or come back out of sync, billing after cancellation, and scripted support. Buyers should also note the data-processing addendum says content "may be used" to train Riverside's AI models while the help centre says it is not. Get it in writing on Business.
First-party: we used Riverside for remote interviews and it was, frankly, terrible for us: repeated audio drift across the episode, in the raw downloads as well as the edit, and enough re-work that we moved our recording to Descript. The features on paper are good; the core job was not reliable in our hands.
