How we testFinal Cut Pro (Apple, Cupertino) is still sold as a £299.99 perpetual licence for the Mac, and since 28 January 2026 also inside Apple Creator Studio (Final Cut, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor, MainStage and Pixelmator Pro) for £12.99 a month or £129 a year, with a one-month trial. Two things changed with that launch that buyers should know: the 90-day standalone trial was withdrawn, and some new AI features (Transcript Search, Visual Search, Beat Detection, Montage Maker) are subscription-only, so the one-off buyer no longer gets everything. Final Cut Pro 11 (Nov 2024) and the 2026 updates brought Magnetic Mask AI rotoscoping, on-device Transcribe to Captions, Generate Captions, Edit Detection and Auto Mask; the magnetic timeline, multicam, HDR and spatial-video editing remain the core.
It is macOS-only (iPad now via the bundle), with no text-based editing, no voice or dubbing tools, no generative video, no cloud projects, comments or review links (Frame.io fills that gap), and no admin or SSO beyond Apple Business Manager distribution. Apple pays no affiliate commission on Mac apps or App Store subscriptions. Trustpilot has no Final Cut profile.
