Saaskly

Hostinger Website Builder

The cheap end done competently: an AI and drag-and-drop builder with 400 templates, a UK data centre, ISO 27001, ecommerce with no platform fee on the Unlimited plan and a Lithuanian, privately held owner. Unlimited is £4.49 a month on a prepaid 12-month term. What to know: every term is paid upfront, the renewal is £13.99 and a single month is £14.99, so the advertised price is a third of what you pay in year two; export leaves behind styles, store, forms and submissions; the top plan has two names; and native forms and custom code are not documented.

3.1/5
Saaskly score

Hostinger is a Lithuanian company founded in Kaunas in 2004 and headquartered in Vilnius, privately held with the founders and team owning most of it and the private-equity firm ConHostinger about 30 percent; it states more than four million clients and runs data centres in the UK, the Netherlands, Lithuania, France, Germany, the US, Brazil and Asia. We found no Russian or Chinese link in ownership, engineering or history.

Prices are in pounds with VAT added as a separate line at checkout, read on 16 September 2026 from the cart itself because the marketing page shows only the promotion. The builder ships inside three hosting plans. Unlimited is the plan we score, because Premium is positioned for portfolios and link-in-bio pages and lacks ecommerce and priority support: £4.49 a month on a 12-month prepaid term (£53.88 upfront), renewing at £13.99 a month, or £14.99 for a single prepaid month. Premium is £3.49, renewing at £10.99, or £11.99 a month; the top plan is £9.99, renewing at £20.99, or £22.99, and is called Cloud Startup on the marketing page and Startup in the cart. Every plan is paid upfront for its whole term, so there is no true monthly billing, and the renewal rate is the same whichever term you bought, which is why long terms are pushed so hard. A domain is free for the first year, the trial is 14 days without publishing, and there is a 30-day money-back guarantee.

The builder has a manual drag-and-drop mode and an "agentic" mode that builds sites and web apps from prompts, with an AI logo maker, copywriter and product-page generator metered in credits (15 on Unlimited plus 500 agent credits). Ecommerce with 0 percent platform fee and more than 100 payment methods, email marketing through Hostinger Reach and Google Analytics, Meta Pixel and Google Ads connections are included on Unlimited and Startup. What we could not confirm on Hostinger's own pages: native contact forms (implied by the export article), custom code injection, blog features, roles, multilingual or specific SEO controls beyond "automatically optimised". Hostinger publishes an official MCP server, but it drives its account API for VPS, domains, email and ecommerce, not the builder's content. Compliance is ISO 27001:2022 with a privacy policy that lists processing in the UK, the Netherlands, Lithuania and Cyprus; SOC 2 is unconfirmed. Support is 24/7 chat behind an AI agent, priority on Unlimited, with no phone channel found.

Leaving is lossy. Hostinger's own help centre says you can export pages, text and images, but not styles or layout, the online store, integrations, forms or their submissions. Trustpilot is 4.6 on 72,268 invited reviews with 7 percent one-star; the one-star themes in mid-September 2026 were refunds and account deletion, the money-back guarantee in practice, and slow hosting.

Not yet tested by Saaskly: assessed on published pricing, vendor documentation, the vendor's own help centre and status pages, and third-party reviews.

Cons

  • Every term is prepaid and the renewal (£13.99) is three times the advertised £4.49; one month costs £14.99
  • Export keeps pages, text and images but loses styles, layout, the store, integrations, forms and submissions
  • Native forms, custom code, roles, multilingual and granular SEO controls are not documented; the top plan has two names; the MCP server drives the account, not the site

*Scored plan: the business plan the score is set on (the cheapest plan with a custom domain and no vendor branding, contact forms, basic SEO controls and room for a fifty-page site; for a managed WordPress host, one production site with staging and daily backups), per month on annual billing at the renewal price, then per month billed monthly where that is offered, in the currency the vendor shows a UK visitor on the research date. Developer CMSs show the licence plus a stated reference hosting cost. See each profile for the VAT basis, first-term promotions and what the plan above adds.

**Owned in: where the company that owns the vendor answers to. A US-owned vendor is subject to US law (including the CLOUD Act) wherever the site is hosted. "Russian or Chinese link" records ownership, management or engineering links found on the research date, with the evidence on the profile; Saaskly marks these down in the score by editorial rule and says so.
