Avast Business

Avast Business is a brand of Gen Digital, the Nasdaq-listed company formed when NortonLifeLock completed its purchase of the Czech-born Avast plc on 12 September 2022; it also owns Norton, AVG, Avira and CCleaner and has dual headquarters in Tempe, Arizona and Prague. It replaces Norton Small Business in this comparison because Norton's own page says its small-business product is for firms that "don't require a business dashboard", it has no Windows Server support and it stops at 20 devices, so it fails the definition of a business tier; Avast Business Hub is the console Gen Digital does sell to small firms. Avast's engineering has always been centred in Prague; we found no Russian or Chinese link.

Prices are in pounds excluding VAT ("price excludes VAT" on the page), read on 9 September 2026 with the quote tool set to 25 devices and one year. Avast Essential Business Security is the plan we score: £538.00 for the first year (£21.52 a device) renewing at £672.50 (£26.90 a device). Premium Business Security is £672.60 first year (£26.90) renewing at £840.75 (£33.63) and adds Web Control; Ultimate Business Security is £818.20 first year (£32.73) renewing at £1,022.75 (£40.91) and adds Patch Management for Windows clients and servers. The renewal premium over the first-year price is 25 per cent on every tier and the page says so. Business Hub, the cloud console, is optional on Essential and Premium and required on Ultimate; it manages any PC or Mac with the agent and Windows Server 2008 R2 to 2022. One, two and three-year terms are offered, there is a 30-day trial for up to 100 devices with no payment details, a 30-day money-back guarantee, and both a Subscribe Now checkout and a Contact Sales route. Prices are per device, one to 100 or more.

The feature ladder is antivirus first. Every tier has endpoint protection, ransomware and data protection and phishing protection from a six-layer engine; USB protection and a personal VPN appear on the higher tiers; Web Control is a cross on Essential. What is missing is the whole detection-and-response layer: no tier is described as EDR, there is no XDR and no MDR, and no separate Avast Business EDR product was found. Patching is Ultimate only and Windows only. Business Hub gives reporting, alerting, policy management, network discovery and remote support, and there is a multi-tenant channel partner track for MSPs; we could not confirm API, SSO, RMM integrations or where console data is held.

The independent record is strong for the price. AV-Comparatives' H1 2026 Business Security Test (March to June, published 15 July 2026) scored Avast Ultimate Business Security at 99.0 per cent real-world protection with four false alarms and 99.8 per cent malware detection with none on business software; AV-TEST's June 2026 business round gave it 6/6/6 and Top Product; SE Labs' Q4 2025 small-business AAA came from a search result we could not open. The record against is Avast's own history: its Jumpshot subsidiary sold detailed browsing data from 2014 to 2020, the FTC ordered a $16.5 million settlement and a ban on selling browsing data, finalised in June 2024, and NortonLifeLock's January 2023 credential-stuffing incident exposed some Norton password-manager accounts. Trustpilot's 4.3 on 45,923 reviews for avast.com is the consumer profile, with cancellation errors and upselling the recent one-star themes. Not yet tested by Saaskly: assessed on published pricing, the independent test labs, vendor documentation and third-party reviews.
