Acronis Cyber Protect

Acronis International GmbH describes itself as "a Swiss technology company, founded in Singapore" in 2003. Its founders were Serguei Beloussov, Ilya Zubarev and Max Tsyplyaev, from the SWsoft group that also produced Parallels and Virtuozzo, and its engineering ran in Russia until Acronis announced on 4 March 2022 that it was suspending all operations there, saying it had not sold in Russia since 2017. EQT announced a majority stake on 7 August 2024, with CVC, BlackRock Private Equity Partners and Springcoast remaining minority holders, and Acronis's current board lists EQT, CVC and Springcoast directors; the chief executive as read on 9 September 2026 is Jan-Jaap Jager, based in Singapore, and the chief development officer and chief product officer are Nick Grebennikoff and Yury Averkiev, also in Singapore. We record the founding, the Russian engineering history and the management line-up because Saaskly marks down security vendors with a Russian ownership, management or engineering history, and that is why Acronis sits second from last despite a decent product. There is no government action against it.

Prices are in pounds, read on 9 September 2026 in Acronis's purchasing tool with the UK region selected and a 10 per cent annual-billing promotion running; VAT is added at checkout unless a VAT number is given, so the figures are ex VAT. Cyber Protect Standard is £59.00 a workstation a year at list (£53.10 on offer) and is the plan we score: it has a cloud or on-premises console, covers Windows and macOS under the Workstation licence and Windows Server under a separate Server licence. Backup Advanced (£79 list) adds Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace backup; Advanced (£95 list, £85.50 on offer) adds EDR, but only with the cloud console, and is the edition Acronis recommends above five devices. The server licence is the trap: adding one server to a 25-workstation Advanced cart raised the list total from £2,375 to £3,024, about £649 a server a year. A monthly payment plan exists for UK residents only, is a 12-month commitment paid in instalments and costs more than annual billing. Card, PayPal, wire and purchase-order checkout are all offered, with keys delivered by Cleverbridge. Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, the MSP platform that the labs actually test, is sold only through partners at partner-set prices.

As a security product it has antivirus and anti-malware, Active Protection against ransomware with attack-specific rollback, exploit prevention, URL filtering, vulnerability assessment for Windows, macOS and Linux, fail-safe patch management that backs up before patching, an allowlist, and on Advanced the EDR set: correlated events, a MITRE ATT&CK attack-chain view, one-click response and isolation. Device control, host firewall management, disk encryption management, mobile threat defence and an MCP server were not found. Virtualisation support is the widest here (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, Proxmox, Citrix, Virtuozzo and more), which is the backup heritage showing. ConnectWise is a named integration; 24/7 phone, chat and email support is included on every plan.

AV-TEST's June 2026 business round gave Acronis Cyber Protect 26.3 a perfect 6/6/6 and Top Product; AV-Comparatives approved Cyber Protect Cloud in its 2022 business test, its most recent entry; SE Labs has tested Cyber Protect Cloud with the Advanced Security and XDR pack three times since 2024 and Acronis reports AAA; it took part in MITRE's 2025 round. In March 2023 a threat actor leaked 12GB of Acronis files, which Acronis said came from one customer's compromised support credentials, and CVE-2023-45249 in Acronis Cyber Infrastructure, a separate product, was exploited in 2024. Trustpilot is 4.5 on 3,412 invited reviews, mixing consumer and business customers, with unreachable support the recent theme. Not yet tested by Saaskly: assessed on published pricing, the independent test labs, vendor documentation and third-party reviews.
